How to Be Happy Now
What is it? Find some gratitude, stat! Here we go:
- Look around you right now: What are three things (or people) that you appreciate having in your life?
- Consider your own self: What are two things you appreciate about your mind, heart, or body?
- Express your gratitude right now and feel it fully! Be happy! Fully embrace for a few seconds (or more) how wonderful some aspects of your life really are – your experiences, relationships, ideas, health, or opportunities.

Aaaaaah... Now, doesn't that feel BETTER!?
I know that many of you reading this are glad for the reminder because you realize you hadn’t expressed gratitude in awhile and this feels GOOD. You feel more happy, right? Way to go. Keep at it!
I also know that for some of you reading this, feeling grateful is hard. I know this because of my work with hundreds of clients that struggled with this at first too. These are people that seem relatively happy and healthy and are living a pretty good life. Others look at them and think “they have it so good,” but from their own perspective they see only the things they want to improve and situations they would rather not be in.
It’s simple really. And there is a simple way to shift it.
Here’s the thing: You have old habitual ways of perceiving yourself and your surroundings. You can make the shift and feel more joy any time you choose to! Don’t take my word for it. I want you to experience it for yourself!
It’s OK to start wherever you are right now. Unless you grew up with someone who taught you this habit, or learned it later through a path of self-improvement, you may have a hard time feeling grateful. Good news: it’s worth it -and- it gets easier with practice.
Do it now: Find ONE thing to be grateful for. If you can muster it, write a list of 10 things you are grateful for. Do it again in a few days. How do you feel?
